My husband and I were running errands in Sunnyvale when I got a craving for donuts. That was when we stumbled upon Daily Donuts & Sandwiches. It was a family-owned business in a small shopping center. The store was shallow, it was definitely a casual place where one bought food immediately and left. There was a glass case of donuts, a refrigerator to get drinks from, and bread everywhere in case one needed a sandwich. We got a bag of donuts and went on our merry way.
We ate a glazed cruller that was light and fluffy. It broke apart perfectly. The dough was almost creamy in the middle. The glaze was delicious and not too sweet.
The old fashioned sour cream was classic. The cake donut had a firm glaze that encased it. When I bit into it the glazed cracked a little in a delightful way.The dough was dense, but the texture was fluffy.
The chocolate raised was a yeast-based donut that had a light and chewy texture. The frosting was a delectable milk chocolate that had just the right amount of sweetness. There was a great balance between this plain yeast donut and the rich milk chocolate glaze that made the donut so palatable.
Lastly, the cashier gave us some free donut holes. The glazed donut holes were dense and covered with a sweet thick glaze that was very tasty. They were still warm because one of the kitchen staff had just put them out in the case when we were ordering. The cashier casually popped them into our bag and did not charge us for them. It was very considerate.
We enjoyed the casual, unassuming atmosphere of Daily Donuts. The staff were so pleasant and giving. We will definitely come back again!
